Prepare Your ATV/UTV for Busco Beach Fall Bash 2026

Fall Bash is almost here, and for ATV and UTV riders, that means getting ready for a weekend of mud, trails, and off-road fun. Busco Beach Fall Bash 2026 is scheduled for October 8–11 at Busco Beach and ATV Park in Goldsboro, North Carolina. The event is listed as a multi-day gathering featuring riding, racing, contests, music, and camping.

Before loading up your machine and heading out, take some time to inspect the parts that work hardest on demanding terrain. A little preparation can help you catch wear early, avoid preventable breakdowns, and spend more of your weekend riding.

1. Check Your Tires and Wheels

Your tires are the first point of contact with mud, loose dirt, and uneven trails. Before leaving, check the tread for excessive wear, cuts, or embedded debris. Look for cracks or bulges in the sidewalls, and make sure your tires are inflated according to your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.

Inspect your wheels for visible damage and check that the lug nuts are properly tightened. If you have recently installed larger tires, pay attention to how they affect steering and suspension components. Added tire size can increase the demands placed on parts throughout the vehicle.

2. Inspect Your Brakes Before Riding

Mud and water can make braking conditions unpredictable. Check your brake pads for wear and inspect the rotors for visible damage. If you notice grinding, unusual noises, a soft brake lever, or reduced stopping performance, investigate the issue before riding.

After crossing water or riding through mud, allow your brakes to dry and check that they continue to respond normally. Never assume your brakes are working properly just because they felt fine during your last ride.

3. Give Your Steering and Tie Rods a Close Look

Your steering system takes repeated impacts when the tires hit ruts, rocks, and uneven ground. Check for excessive steering play, clunking noises, loose hardware, or visible damage around the tie rods, tie rods ends and steering connections.

Have someone gently move the steering wheel while you observe the components, with the vehicle safely parked and secured. Look for unwanted movement at the joints. If you find looseness or damaged parts, address it before heading onto the trails.

4. Inspect Your Axles and CV Boots

Axles transfer power to the wheels, making them important components to inspect before a demanding weekend. Look for torn CV boots, grease around the joints, damaged clamps, or unusual clicking during turns.

A damaged CV boot can allow dirt and moisture to reach the joint, potentially accelerating wear. If you find a tear, do not ignore it. Determine whether the boot or the CV joint needs attention before continuing to ride.

5. Check Your Radius Rods and Suspension

Uneven terrain and repeated impacts put stress on suspension and chassis components. Inspect your radius rods, mounting points, bushings, and hardware for signs of bending, cracking, looseness, or unusual movement.

For Can-Am Maverick X3 owners, the radius rods are an important part of the rear suspension linkage. Riders who frequently encounter rough terrain may want to review the condition and suitability of their setup before the event.

6. Don’t Forget Fluids, Battery, and Lights

Check engine oil, coolant, and other fluids according to your owner’s manual. Look for leaks around hoses, seals, and connections. Make sure the battery is secure and fully charged, and inspect the terminals for corrosion.

If you plan to ride after dark, verify that your headlights and other required lights work properly. Busco Beach’s rules state that ATVs and dirt bikes need a mounted headlight for trail riding after dark; a flashlight is not a substitute. Review the park’s current rules before traveling.

7. Pack for the Weekend and Ride Within Your Limits

Bring basic tools, recovery equipment suitable for your vehicle, drinking water, protective gear, and supplies for cleaning mud from important components. Wear appropriate safety equipment and ride at a pace that matches the terrain and your experience.

Busco Beach offers changing trail conditions, including mud pits, water crossings, hill climbs, and hard-packed wooded trails. Conditions can vary, so check the park’s current information and follow posted rules when you arrive.
