Polaris Ranger Problems (and How Demon Parts Fix Them)
Your Polaris Ranger was built to handle serious work, but real riders know that abuse from mud, load, and terrain eventually reveals weak points. We’ve been in your boots—and on your trails. Here’s a breakdown of the most common Ranger problems and how Demon Powersports products can keep you moving forward.
🔥 Overheating & Power Loss
Common Issues:
Older Rangers tend to overheat, especially when caked in mud or towing hard in hot climates. Weak fuel pumps, gunked injectors, or electrical gremlins (loose or corroded terminals) can lead to stalls, misfires, or no-starts.
Demon Solution:
-
Flush that coolant system regularly.
-
Keep terminals clean and sealed.
-
For electrical stability, upgrade to a stronger battery if you're running lights, audio, or a winch.
-
Bonus tip: If you’re running our HD Winch, make sure your wiring is clean and direct with solid grounding.
🏁 Transmission Trouble & Belt Wear
Common Issues:
Hard shifting into gear, especially under load, and premature CVT belt wear usually signal a clutch alignment or load-based drivetrain issue.
Demon Solution:
-
Swap your worn CVT belt regularly.
-
Realign your clutch if needed, and don’t overlook shift linkage play.
-
For serious riders and haulers, upgrade to our HD Axles or X-Treme HD Axles built for high torque, long hauls, and relentless terrain.
🛠️ Suspension Slop & Steering Wobble
Common Issues:
After enough trail time, your steering starts to wander and suspension squeaks show up. Loose ball joints, busted bushings, and weak tie rods are often to blame.
Demon Solution:
-
Replace stock parts with HD Ball Joints or go full send with X-Treme HD Race Spec Ball Joints.
-
Tame sloppy steering with HD Tie Rods or Race Spec Tie Rod Kits.
-
For high articulation needs? Our Long Travel HD Axles match perfectly with lifted or wide setups.
⚡ Sensor Glitches & Electrical Drain
Common Issues:
Faulty sensors like TPS or speed sensors can cause hesitation, stalling, or power loss. Add in parasitic draw from accessories and you’ll be charging that battery more than riding.
Demon Solution:
-
Use dielectric grease on all connectors.
-
Scan for bad sensors using an ECU reader.
-
Running lights, winches, and sound? Use fused accessories and consider a battery maintainer.
🛑 Brake Fade & Body Rattle
Common Issues:
Spongy brakes? It’s usually worn pads, unlubed caliper slides, or air in the system. As for the rattles? Doors and panels on older Rangers tend to loosen up.
Demon Solution:
-
Flush brake fluid and upgrade to HD Brake Pads.
-
Lube and check your calipers every season.
-
For body rattle—tighten your hinges or add weather foam for quick silence.
